Greater Zion MBC Leadership

Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following are brief bio's of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.

Rev. Brill Stone

Senior Pastor

Reverend Brill R. Stone, Sr.

Reverend Brill R. Stone, Sr. Pastor, Shepherd, Counselor, Friend, and a native of Waco, Texas, was born to the late Louis and Mary Lee Stone.  He is the youngest of six siblings.

Reverend Stone received his elementary and secondary education within the Waco Independent School District, graduating from Jefferson-Moore High School.  While attending high school, he played various sports while excelling in track and field.

After accepting the call of Jesus Christ to the Ministry in March of 1987, Reverend Stone was licensed by Rev. Carnel Mason, Sr. and the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Waco, Texas and in 1989 he was ordained to preach the Gospel Ministry. In 1990, Reverend Stone entered Guadalupe Theological Seminary and graduated with a B.S. in Theology several years later.

In 1991, Reverend Stone accepted the pastoral assignment at the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Robinson, Texas.  His greatest accomplishment during this assignment was to place emphasis on the need for spiritual growth and development through the teaching of God’s word.

In 1996, Pastor Stone was called to lead the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Axtell, Texas.  Under his leadership, the church experienced much growth spiritually (through meaningful worship), numerically (with many new members joining the congregation), financially (encouraged faithful giving), structurally (handicap ramps, church signs, renovations, and erecting a new sanctuary and fellowship hall after the existing church burned), and in all areas of its ministry.  In addition, the church became extensively involved in local and state activities.   Pastor Stone exemplified the characteristics of a true leader during his tenure at the church.

In 2009, Pastor Stone was called to lead the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Waco, Texas.  As the Shepherd of Pleasant Grove, Pastor Stone faithfully taught and preached the Word of God and seized every opportunity to forever preach the whole counsel of God.  He preached day in and day out to reprove and rebuke, but ever in a spirit of love. By being obedient to the Word of God, Pastor Stone continues to be invited to speak at churches, events, and for organizations throughout the city.

On July 13, 2025, Pastor Stone was called to lead the Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Waco, Texas.  Pastor Stone is excited about the marvelous things that God is doing in his life for the people of God.

Apart from actively participating in community and religious activities in the City of Waco and surrounding cities and states, Pastor Stone is the First Vice Moderator of the Union Baptist Association. He served as the long time Pastoral Advisor to the Union Baptist District Association Ushers and Nurses.

In this position he truly poured his heart into and devoted much time and many years of devotion. He also participates in the Waco and Surrounding Area Brotherhood as well as serves on numerous auxiliaries and committees when needed.

Pastor Stone is a 33rd Degree Prince Hall Mason who is dedicated to the principles of brotherhood and community service. He is an active and dedicated member of Wyatt Lodge #21 and Rose of Sharon Consistory #180. Each year he participates in serving Meals on Wheels to the community on Christmas morning in the spirit of love.  They have also participated in Toys for Tots, Back to School Supply Drives, Summer Fun Bash for kids are just a few of their community events.

This man of God is a pastor that devotes much of his personal time and energy to encouraging the sick, shut-in, sorrowing and unsaved throughout his church and community.  However, besides his pastoral duties, he enjoys spending time with his family, watching sports events, bible studying, and traveling.

Pastor Stone has been married to his lovely wife Vicki L. Stone for 41 years and he is the proud father of one son, Minister Brill Stone, Jr. and two beautiful granddaughters, Jaubrey and Tahlia.

Pastor Stone’s life is an example to his family, church members, fellow ministers, and to all who know him.  He considers himself expendable for his people and the cause of Christ.  Pastor Stone continuously works in love, humility, courage, patience, joy, and self-denial.

He is a man after God’s own heart and truly understands that only God could enable him to serve as he serves. God is using this pastor to take His people to a new era as he stays in the Word of God.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

And I will give you pastors according to mine heart,

which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.”
